Arrival Wednesday, June 17
174 Miles | 3 Hours plus stops for work and parts runs
Mari has Webexes most of the day so we spend the first half of the day in the RV parking lot in Gardiner and the second half of the day in Livingston where there’s LTE service while Datta gets the propane filled and goes from store to store looking for a large enough inverter to power the electric heater, or a small enough heater to work off a 750 inverter which is the biggest one available locally, and eventually gives up after testing several combinations since we’re headed to warmer climes.
At around 6pm, once Mari's work wraps up, we head to Billings and pull into the worlds first KOA around 8:30pm. We pass on the available sites which are sandwiched between monster RV buses and talk our way into getting the lovely spot 162 which has a nice private setting that backs up to a scenic pond. We like it so much we decide to stay two nights.
We call several local RV dealers but nobody has the smaller gas heater we’re looking for in stock. After Mari's work wraps up for the afternoon we squeeze into a visit at ZooMontana where we get a good show from the wolves, Wolverine, Grizzly Bears and the Tigers, though Mari cuts out early for a call. And we gain a new plush red panda pet on a leash to take with us.
The next day we hang out by the pond, having a productive workday, doing some laundry and playing mini golf where Sibri hits 2 holes in ones.
We get lots of sleep that evening resting up for the next leg which is going to be a long haul.
