Buffalo River Park, Glyndon, Minnesota

Arrival Wednesday, June 24

210 Miles | 3.5 hours plus 5 hour layover for work

Mari is super busy and Datta can always use some extra time to catch up on emails so we pull over at a nice city park in Jamestown and look for a good spot to set up for Sunita's workout and lunch.

There are folks parked under every available shade tree along the park road, so we pull onto a large grassy knoll under a pleasant grove of trees near a softball field, setting up shop there after finding a sturdy tree for the TRX. We stick around for the afternoon with Mari taking her Webex calls in the car while Datta conducts business from the trailer. This is a formula that works well moving forward.

After a full afternoon of work we head out as dusk starts to fall, Mari finds a little park by the Buffalo river just north of Fargo, only about half full with mostly locals camping. It’s hot and humid here and the mosquitos are thick so we spray on some deet and light a fire to keep them at bay. We enjoy our first round of s’mores since the KOA and get some shuteye.

In the morning we take a little walk to explore the park, which has an elaborate swimming pond, large parking lot, changing rooms, lifeguard towers, and multiple zones that look like a popular place to hang out. But it is drained for the season presumably due to Covid, so we explore a couple of interpretative trail loops that take us along the edge of the surrounding prairie.
