Homewood & Lake Tahoe, California

Arrival Sunday, May 31

280 Miles | 5 Hours

The Audi pulls the trailer up a 30% slope up Oak Drive into Eric's driveway, purring like a kitten.

Our gracious host Eric welcomes us at his idyllic 1940s Sunnyside log cabin, replete with Eric's custom bright orange shutters. We enjoy a nice dinner and paddle out on Eric’s rowboat across on Lake Tahoe.

Datta and Sibri take a bike path ride with Caleb and end up seeing a crawdad and some baby rainbow trout. Sibri helps Eric in the garden, while Mari works and manages to call the Phillipnes travel agency to help get Elena, Erik's partner, out of the Philippines. Eric helps secure Sibri's bed, overhead bin and our toilet storage cover. Caleb has graciously driven all the way up from the East Bay to help MacGyver the batteries in order to work with our solar panels.

Tom, the Napa auto parts guy, wanders by since he lives on Erik's street and offers advice. We score a custom holddown bar by Big Water Welding for $20 and tip the guy $10 for quick service.

It's feeling like we're really doing this as Eric's is our last stop before we leave the state! And Sibri is getting into a new fun mode now too, as she mocks her ever-busy dad.
